The Minnesota YoungBloodz is a non-profit organization founded by Stefan Berg and Sam Fesuluai-Robinson in the summer of 2007. Stefan is on of Coach Sam’s rugby players and Coach Sam is a former professional and international player. Our vision is to provide opportunities for young rugby players to develop their skills and talents.
Traditional rugby is played with 15 players per team on the field at one time. The YoungBloodz specialize in 7s (rugby played with 7 players per side rather than 15). This type of rugby is played during the summer and requires extreme fitness, speed, and ball-handling skills. The team competes at the highest level of summer club rugby and plays a style of rugby which is action-packed and fast-paced. The YoungBloodz compete in Midwest Qualifying Tournaments, which require a lot of travel in the region. During the summer of 2008, the YoungBloodz showed continuous improvement and finished 6th at the Midwest Rugby 7s Championships.
Presently, our organization is looking to the future and seeking sponsorships to help us reach the next level. Our goal for the 2009 season is to qualify for the USA Rugby National 7s Tournament in San Francisco, CA. In order to do so, YoungBloodz team must travel even more than last season to earn the necessary points to qualify for this tournament. (Chicago, IL, Milwaukee, WI, Iowa City, IA and Minneapolis/St. Paul Metropolitan Area) In addition to our usual tournaments, the YoungBloodz will be playing exhibition matches at the Irish Fair and several more exhibitions and tournaments in the Twin Cities.
We would like to ask for your assistance by making a tax deductible donation to our cause. The YoungBloodz organization will offer promotional assistance to your business by placing your name and logo on the sponsor’s page of our website and our team apparel. Additionally, team updates and framed pictures will be provided to sponsors and the team will be hosting a tournament and using a traveling tent on which sponsor banners can be prominently displayed.
